Backyard Playground Pad Build in Uxbridge MA

Here's what we were working with - a raw, wooded backyard section that needed to be cleared and graded before anything else could happen. That's where land clearing came in first. We brought in a track skid steer to strip the area down, level it out, and give us a clean, workable base. No shortcuts on that part. Get the ground right or everything built on top of it will show it.

Once the pad was prepped, we built out the border framing using pressure-treated lumber and filled the entire area with wood chip mulch. The border serves a real purpose - it keeps the mulch contained, defines the space cleanly, and helps prevent the surrounding yard from creeping back in over time. It also just looks finished, which matters.

The playground set itself has a full setup - rock climbing wall, green slide, swings, and a covered upper platform. With the wood chip base underneath, there's solid impact cushioning across the whole play area. That's not just a nice detail, it's the right way to do it for a space kids are actually going to use hard every day.

We're also coming back to wrap a retaining wall around the perimeter, which will tie the whole thing together and give it even more of a defined, landscaped look. Right now the pad is functional and ready to use - the wall is just the finishing touch that completes the space the right way.
