Cracked Commercial Lot Gets a Clean 3/4 Stone Bed Makeover

Here's what we were working with - a cracked, deteriorating commercial lot with a rough, uneven border running right along a busy road. The existing surface had seen better days, and the area between the pavement edge and the road was a mess of broken material and debris. Not a great look for any business trying to make a good first impression.

We brought in our CAT track skid steer to clear things out and get the area properly graded. Getting the ground level and stable before any stone goes down is the part a lot of people skip - and it's exactly why some installations fail early. Good grading is the foundation of everything else.

Once the grading was done, we laid in a clean 3/4 stone bed along the full length of the lot's road-facing edge. That stone does a lot of work - it controls erosion, handles drainage, and gives the site a much more finished, professional appearance. The difference between a neglected commercial property and a sharp-looking one is often just that kind of detail.

What we ended up with is a smooth transition from the lot surface to the road with a uniform stone bed that holds its shape and handles runoff properly. For a commercial site that sees regular traffic, that kind of durable, low-maintenance solution just makes sense. No more crumbling edges or muddy washouts every time it rains.
