Water in the basement is one of those problems homeowners tend to live with longer than they should. It starts as a damp smell, then a wet corner, and before long you're dealing with real damage. Most of the time, the culprit is simple - water from downspouts or interior drains has nowhere to go, so it pools up against the foundation and works its way in.

That's exactly what we were dealing with here in Millville. The homeowner was getting water in the basement, and the fix came down to getting the water moving away from the house. We installed a downspout line and a water softener drain line, both trenched in and routed to carry water well away from the foundation. The trenching work ran along the side of the house, with the pipe bedded in gravel and set at the right grade to keep water flowing where it's supposed to go.

With drainage work, the pipe is only part of the job. The other part is leaving the property in good shape when you're done. We graded the disturbed area back smooth and clean - no rough piles of soil, no uneven spots left behind. The yard looks like a yard again, not a construction zone.

What we did here is straightforward drainage work, but it makes a real difference. Redirecting water away from a foundation is one of the most effective ways to protect a basement long-term. It's not a complicated fix, but it has to be done right - proper depth, proper grade, and proper pipe placement - otherwise you're just moving the problem, not solving it.
