This one had a clear purpose - get the house sold. The customer was dealing with water pooling along the foundation from a downspout, and that problem was holding up the home inspection. We needed to get the water under control and do it cleanly.

Here's what we were working with: a gutter downspout dumping right along the foundation with nowhere for the water to go. The fix was to trench out a line, run a buried drain pipe from the front yard, route it under the fence, and carry the water all the way to the backyard and away from the house. Not complicated on paper - but the routing through the fence line and across the full yard takes planning to get right.

You can see the pipe laid in the trench with gravel bedding underneath and filter fabric wrapped around it. That setup matters. The gravel helps water move freely into the pipe, and the fabric keeps the surrounding soil from migrating in and clogging it over time. It's not just about burying a pipe - it's about making sure it still works years down the road.

Once the line was set and backfilled, we graded the disturbed areas back smooth. The side yard and backyard were both raked out and left ready to grow in. Clean finish. No leftover mess, no ruts, no half-done grading.

Water pooling along a foundation is one of those issues that starts small and turns into a bigger problem fast - especially when a home sale is on the line. Getting the drainage right and the grading tight behind it is exactly the kind of work we do every day.
