Water going where it shouldn't is one of those problems that looks minor until it isn't. Once water starts pooling near a foundation or running toward a garage, it's only a matter of time before it causes real damage. That's exactly what we were dealing with on this job.

The old stone garage apron wasn't doing its job anymore. The grade wasn't moving water away from the building - it was letting it sit and creep. We pulled the old stone out, brought in regrind material, and re-graded the apron so water has a clear path away from the structure. Regrind is a solid choice here because it compacts well and holds its grade over time. It's not glamorous, but it works.

We also built a stone wall by the side door. That wall does two things - it holds the bank back so you're not fighting erosion every season, and it helps redirect water flow away from the building. Large natural boulders set along the entry give it a clean, finished look while doing real structural work at the same time.

The laser level you can see set up in the driveway area is how we make sure the grading is dialed in. Getting the slope right isn't guesswork. Even a small difference in grade can be the difference between water draining properly and water sitting where it shouldn't.

This kind of work - grading, apron replacement, stone wall placement - doesn't always look dramatic in photos. But when you don't have to worry about water in your garage or erosion eating away at your bank every time it rains, that's when you feel the difference.
