In-Ground Pool Demo and Yard Reclaim in Millis MA

Some pools stop being an asset and start being a problem. Cracked liner, years of neglect, a chain-link fence surrounding a hole in the ground - it adds up. This homeowner in Millis had an in-ground pool that was well past its useful life, and they wanted that space back. That's exactly what we came in to do.

We started with the demo itself. Breaking out the concrete walls, pulling the liner, and getting all that material out of the ground is no small task. We ran two mini excavators side by side to break through the old pool structure and clear the debris. It takes the right equipment and a crew that knows what they're doing - otherwise you end up with an uneven, unstable mess underground that causes settling problems for years.

Once the pool was out and the hole was filled, we got to work grading the entire area. Bringing the ground back to a clean, even surface is where site work experience really matters. We used a CAT skid steer and the excavators to push and grade the soil across the full footprint of where the pool and surrounding yard had been disturbed. The goal was a smooth, consistent grade that would drain properly and be ready for the next step.

That next step was hydro seeding. We applied a full coat of hydro seed slurry across the graded area to get grass established quickly and hold the soil in place. The vivid teal-green color you see is the mulch and seed mixture - it's a visual indicator of full, even coverage. It also breaks down naturally as the seed germinates and the lawn takes hold. For a disturbed area this size, hydro seeding is far more effective than hand-spreading seed or laying sod.
